Programme objectives
Within the bachelor's programme, students gain fundamental knowledge in the field of mathematics, in-depth knowledge of stochastics, especially mathematical statistics and its application. They gain the skill to analyse, model and solve problems using mathematical and statistical processes. As well as confident application of statistical methods and processes, programming-related implementation in education also plays an important role.
Students are prepared for professional work as statisticians in various areas of application. Graduates are capable of demonstrating statistical problems and their solutions clearly and understandably and working on an inter-disciplinary basis.
Degree course content
The study programme consists of basic training in mathematics and in-depth training in statistics, courses in information technology which are tailored to the needs of a statistician and sound fundamental courses in various areas of application from engineering, business and natural sciences, especially environmental and bio-sciences. The course content is combined with practical exercises throughout the programme.
Internships
A three-month work placement forms part of the programme.
