The Master’s course in Entrepreneurial Risk Management enables students with a business-related Bachelor’s degree (business administration, economics or industrial engineering) to continue their studies by consolidating and expanding their knowledge in the area of risk management. The objective of the course is to deal with functions such as risk prevention, analysis and control, all of which arise in connection with risk management.
The specialist risk management knowledge is communicated in an interdisciplinary manner. Students will acquire competencies in the relevant operational areas of organisations and management.
Degree course content
Semester 1 is devoted to scientific extension of the fundamentals of risk management. Students are introduced to the contents of the subject area and familiarised with the strategic, economic, legal and societal dimensions of risk management.
Risk prevention and risk control along the business value chain is the theme of semester 2, which is rounded off with additional coverage of technical security management.
Semester 3 consists of two modules. One module deals with specialist areas of risk management and engages with themes like Starting Up in Business / Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises; Social Organisations and Services Companies; Economic Crime and Corruption. The second module focuses on the acquisition of skills that support competence development for the role of a risk manager.
Semester 4 is spent writing the Master’s thesis, which concludes with a colloquium.
In addition, students have the opportunity to carry out their own research and to write up these topics as study projects.
