Programme objectives

On the basis of a sound education in the field of clinical psychology, the Master's Programme in Rehabilitation Psychology conveys the knowledge and expertise relevant to the professional, social, medical and psychological aspects of dysfunctions which in their interplay affect participation in everyday life (participation disorders).

Additionally, the course of study provides comprehensive insight into the system of rehabilitation assistance as well as quality assurance and evaluation. Thus, graduates can prepare themselves for the practices of the respective models of assistance and eventually develop them further within the framework of the legal and financial parameters or adjust them to fit the needs of their clients.

Furthermore the students are qualified for the areas of quality management and quality assurance within the field of rehabilitation. For this purpose, it is indispensable to explore and integrate the latest findings from theory and research.

Methodology
  • Introduction to the methodology of research in rehabilitation psychology and working with fundamental statistical procedures (including use of computer-based applications)
  • psychological diagnostics: testing and decision-making, testing theory and test design, fundamentals of ideographical diagnostics
  • communication of scientific results: colloquia with presentation of current and students’ own research findings, preparation and presentation of psychological reports

 

 

 

Internships

The degree programme includes a 12-week traineeship placement.

Admission requirements

Admission to the Master‘s programme Psychology of Rehabilitation requires a good university degree (minimum 2.0 in German grading system) completed over a standard course duration of at least 6 semesters or at least 180 credits in the field of rehabilitation psychology or psychology.

Applicants also need  a proof of 16 credits from the field of clinical psychology and psychotherapy and 14 credits from the field of diagnostics.    

The language of instruction is German. Foreign applicants must prove they have adequate knowledge of German. Evidence of the necessary German language skills can be provided in the form of:

  • Goethe Certificate C2
  • DSH II
  • DSD II
  • TestDaF (minimun 16 total points & minimun level 3 in the examination modules)
  • ÖSD C2
  • TELC Deutsch C1 Hochschule

In addition, evidence must be provided of knowledge of the English language to level B2 of the Common European Framework.
