Stendal

The City

The hanseatic town of Stendal with its population of 40,600 is the geographical and economic centre of the Altmark region.

Stendal is a place where diverse hanseatic traditions and significant examples of North German red-brick gothic architecture have been preserved. This is evident, for example, in sites like the St. Nikolai Cathedral, the two well preserved city gates, and the marketplace with its town hall, Roland statue and St. Mary’s Church. Stendal also boasts a theatre, pleasant restaurants and cafés and many green spaces.

Further information about Stendal can be obtained at www.stendal.de.

The Campus

Two departments are based on the Stendal campus: the Department of Economics and the Department of Applied Human Sciences.
